(Also known as: Weiqi, Igo, Baduk / Paduk)
Blind and Visually Impaired Go—internationally referred to as Weiqi, Igo, and Baduk / Paduk—is recognised as a specialised discipline within inclusive mind sports. It is organised under the International Blind and Visually Impaired Go Commission (ISSA Blind Go Commission), operating within the official institutional framework of the International Special Sports Association (ISSA).
The Commission is established to ensure equal access, to develop technical, educational, and competitive standards, and to support blind and visually impaired athletes at the international level. It functions as a specialised subsidiary body of ISSA, with its governance and operational structure aligned with the Association’s statutes, principles of good governance, and institutional transparency.
The activities of the Commission include the coordination of competitions, educational and capacity-building programmes, knowledge exchange, and structured cooperation with relevant national and regional organisations. All actions are carried out in accordance with recognised international standards for inclusive sports, while fully respecting the technical and administrative autonomy of member bodies.
Through its coordinating and supportive role, ISSA facilitates the sustainable development, international credibility, and organisational coherence of Blind and Visually Impaired Go—regardless of its regional names such as Weiqi, Igo, or Baduk—contributing to a fair, accessible, and inclusive global sports ecosystem.
